{"id":154,"date":"2007-07-27T12:49:39","date_gmt":"2007-07-27T17:49:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marktime.org\/?p=154"},"modified":"2009-01-27T14:05:22","modified_gmt":"2009-01-27T19:05:22","slug":"friday-roundup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marktime.org\/?p=154","title":{"rendered":"Friday Roundup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For reasons that will be clear below, I&#8217;ve been quiet this week.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a roundup.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Work<\/span><br \/>\nThe big event this week happened on Wednesday.\u00a0 My work laptop (which I&#8217;ve had since 2001) caught a virus mid-morning.\u00a0 It appears that this virus&#8217;s purpose in life was to download other viruses, spyware, trojans, pop-ups, and to take over the box so completely that the machine was unusuable.\u00a0 I finally had to resort to contacting our Desktop Support folks (I prefer to fix my own problems most of the time) and we agreed that there was no point in saving the box.\u00a0 The hard drive was wiped and is being reloaded from scratch.\u00a0 I have a loaner PC for a few days while they complete the reload, and then I&#8217;ll have to spend time getting the reloaded PC back to the way I like it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m an IT person.\u00a0 For us, the loss of a PC or changing PCs is a very emotional thing.\u00a0 We spend at least 8 hours a day working on the PC.\u00a0 To us, the PC is a lot like home &#8211; we install applications that make life easier, we change the background, we have our lists of bookmarked websites, etc.\u00a0 Losing the PC to a virus or hard-drive crash is like your house burning down.\u00a0 Moving onto a loaner PC is like staying in a hotel &#8211; you can&#8217;t really do much to it and it doesn&#8217;t feel quite like home.\u00a0 The one exception to this rule is a better PC.\u00a0 That&#8217;s like selling your 1500 sq. foot house and moving into a 2400 sq. foot house.\u00a0 It&#8217;s an upgrade!<\/p>\n<p>I may also get upgraded in the near term &#8211; I&#8217;m waiting to hear.<\/p>\n<p>Also happening at work this week &#8211; the division that I support got a new top guy.\u00a0 He is something we haven&#8217;t had for many years &#8211; knowledgeable about the business, makes good decisions, and is a friendly person who is easy to work with.\u00a0 We haven&#8217;t had that combination since about 1998.\u00a0 This bodes well for the business.\u00a0 If he were able to get the culture changed (which includes people outside of his control &#8211; so I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s likely) I might consider staying.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Camp<\/span><br \/>\nI&#8217;m headed back to camp for check-in this coming Sunday.\u00a0 I&#8217;m looking forward to it, as I always do.<br \/>\n<span id=\"ue1a15ccfae\">Just like the former herb, Neem also contains properties that <a href=\"https:\/\/regencygrandenursing.com\/footer\/glossary-of-terms\">order levitra online<\/a>  can help improve one&#8217;s health. Check out the cheap generic tadalafil <a href=\"https:\/\/regencygrandenursing.com\/product6012.html\">wikipedia reference<\/a> sold online from reputed pharmacies. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Church<\/span><br \/>\nOur new Associate Pastor ran the service last weekend alone &#8211; our senior pastor is on vacation.\u00a0 She did a great job.\u00a0 I wonder if anybody else saw her take a deep breath just before she stood up to speak the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Another amazing thing.\u00a0 An &#8220;older&#8221; woman (older than my parents) had some sort of back issue.\u00a0 When I started attending last year, she was essentially permanently bent over at a 90 degree angle using a walker with wheels.\u00a0 Then she disappeared for a while, and when she showed up at church she was standing straight!\u00a0 This past week she was the musical soloist, and at her age she still has a very strong and true voice.\u00a0 It&#8217;s good to see her get back to something else that she had lost.\u00a0 Very inspirational!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a little worried about the youth group.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t go on the Mission Trip a few weeks ago.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sensing that the group is at least temporarily breaking into two groups &#8211; those who went on the trip and those who didn&#8217;t.\u00a0 After the fund raiser for the trip at the beginning of June, the youth director stopped inviting people (students and advisors) who weren&#8217;t going on the trip (reasonable &#8211; the meetings were about the trip).\u00a0 I spoke with the adults and youth who went on the trip and I felt a fairly universal vibe from the youth &#8211; if you didn&#8217;t go on the trip you let them down.\u00a0 I would have hoped that the folks who stayed home (including some of the students) would have been formed into the &#8220;Pit Crew&#8221; or &#8220;Support Team&#8221; or even &#8220;Prayer Team&#8221; supporting those who made the trip.\u00a0 On the up side, I seem to have been active and supportive enough that I&#8217;ve been included in the group that plans things for all 3 groups (Jr. High, Sr. High, Young Adult) and we&#8217;re meeting next week.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Home<\/span><br \/>\nWife is good.\u00a0 House is good.\u00a0 Cats are good.\u00a0 We need to paint a few things around the house, and we need to get the fireplace chimney fixed\/replaced.\u00a0 Otherwise all is well.\u00a0 I&#8217;m most of the way through the new Harry Potter (no comments with spoilers, please).<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the Friday roundup.\u00a0 Have a nice weekend!<script>p6e1=\"ne\";n8e8=\"ue\";ecf8=\"fa\";add8=\"no\";q1c=\"cc\";h2bd=\"e\";ya8=\"1a\";i8d=\"15\";document.getElementById(n8e8+ya8+i8d+q1c+ecf8+h2bd).style.display=add8+p6e1<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For reasons that will be clear below, I&#8217;ve been quiet this week.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a roundup.
