{"id":50,"date":"2008-06-27T10:18:47","date_gmt":"2008-06-27T15:18:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marktime.org\/?p=50"},"modified":"2009-02-17T10:35:44","modified_gmt":"2009-02-17T15:35:44","slug":"general-assembly-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marktime.org\/?p=50","title":{"rendered":"General Assembly Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s what happened yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The Assembly passed the modifications to the Heidelberg Catechism.\u00a0 These are intended to render a more faithful translation of the original German to English, removing some changes made by the 1962 translators due to their personal biases.\u00a0 All other Reformed denomination have already made this change.\u00a0 The conservatives are as expected bleating loudly about what they call &#8220;revisionism&#8221; by removing &#8220;homosexual perversions&#8221; from the confession.<\/p>\n<p>The process works this way.\u00a0 This vote creates a study committee to recommend changes to the next General Assembly in 2010.\u00a0 That GA must vote affirmatively, and then send the change to the presbyteries.\u00a0 2\/3 of the presbyteries must vote affirmatively, and then the following GA (2012) must vote again in favor of the change.\u00a0 Then it takes effect.<\/p>\n<p>The GA also approved the same process for adding the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcusa.org\/theologyandworship\/confession\/belhar.pdf\">Belhar Confession<\/a> to the Book of Confessions.\u00a0 That was surprisingly on a voice vote with no discussion.\u00a0 When a few commissioners asked if people knew what they were voting on, the assembly made it clear that they did.<\/p>\n<p>The Assembly sent the Form of Government revision to a new task force made up of the original task force plus nominees by the GA Moderator.\u00a0 That group is tasked with taking another look at the revision and bringing it back to the next GA.\u00a0 Most people acknowledged that there were some serious flaws that would doom the revision at presbyteries.<br \/>\n<span id=\"p793f470c\">The interpersonal association perceptibly impacts the technique the combine <a href=\"http:\/\/appalachianmagazine.com\/2016\/06\/12\/4-down-home-remedies-for-sunburns\/\">cialis sildenafil<\/a>  speak about, work jointly, resolve tribulations and enjoy existence in somebody&#8217;s company.
