According to the article, a particularly heinous offender has $1,200 worth of books out (not the fine, the value of the books), most for over a year (and mostly sci-fi – could easily be me). The worst punishment (for me, at least) would be to lock me up (house arrest maybe) WITHOUT books or computer or dog. Can you imagine? I might actually have to balance my checkbook and dust the shelves and rearrange the closets. Horrors!
